Paper towels are not created Equal!

Those of you, who have been reading my blog for a while, know that I am totally enamoured with creating Complex Papers.
I love, that you can, with a variety of products to colour and surfaces to colour on, create a base paper that is totally unique. In fact the only way I can come close to replication is to do a few pieces in the same colour ways at the same time. Even if I stop for a break when I return I cannot duplicate. But wait there is more to learn about this technique.

This piece was created using scraps of patterned paper, paper towel, distress stains, and found object stamping.
These two pieces show the different look you can get depending on where you cut.

Then a unique card can be created in a very short space of time.

Oh and let me explain about the inequality of paper towels. This caused great hilarity in my recent class!
In my sample I peeled the stained and coloured towel into three pieces and laid these on the base paper.
That's what I then asked my students to also do. After a few seconds there were looks upon their faces that said, " not happening". I tried . Not happening!

Lots of laughter when we discovered the towels I had given them were single ply not the original three ply that I experimented with.

Did it matter? Not a whit! What they created by tearing and gluing was also exciting!

Note to self - make sure supplies ALWAYS the same or be prepared for the consequences :)
It will be a sad day, if this teacher cannot laugh at her mistakes.
