Grounded by our love of Home!

"Life without love is like a tree without blossoms and fruit"
 Kahlil Gibran
This wonderful quote was the starting point for my canvas today for my post over at
My Sweet Earth, Susan K. Weckesser's Blog.

It is indeed true, that the love Super Star and I share  not only for each other but also for our little patch of paradise that is "Idyll Hours" keeps us going. We have been working for over 20 years buliding and creating a subtropical home for many species - flora and fauna.
Our home has been battered by many storms this summer - the cleanup has been time comsuming and sometimes difficult. We all face these caprices of nature and weather events that can turn us upside down.

Our heart is tied to our home but we have been bouyed and lifted by so much kindness and serendipity too.
Plans are being formed  for yet another shade house as we start to sort out an amazing collection of plants that have now found a new home with us. We are honoured to be looking after this treasure trove.

We have been entrusted with new, rare and amazing one man's many years of dedication.
Now our dream is to grow and share this beauty.

To create my canvas was simple.
Inks, sprays and stains were used on the gessoed background.
I wanted the background to look like the sky does as brilliant summer sunsets reach out  fingers of light.
The dear sweet house is from Susiebee Studios "Live in Colour " paper range as are the flowers and floating butterflies.  Stamps - Le Mason, Grandma's Needlepoint and A Little Grunge Love are all Susan's K Weckesser Co Branded with Unity. Finishing touches of pen, paint and pearls were added.

Is there anything better than nurturing and caring for a garden?
We don't think so!
Julie and Super Star.

The beautiful colors of this drew me in to look straight away Julie, and then it was all the wonderful details to explore. The little pearl touches everywhere adding texture and dimension are all fabulous as are all those stamps. I hope to come and visit soon to see what treasures you have been given by way of plants and catch up. Your work today reminds us never to stop dreaming as you never know just when they will be realised. Have a great day! xx

I think these treasures landed in paradise when they came to you and Super Star. I know they will be cared for, respected and loved. And for sure they will thrive!

Your canvas is remarkable! I love the kites lifting the heart! Truly the best "valentine" I have seen!

Hi Julie, my own superstar would agree that there is nothing so rewarding as creating and caring for a garden, which he does with relish (over 30 clematis are the feature in our little space). Your canvas is stunning, the colours are wonderful, a little work of art. Hugs, Anne x

You have such amazing talent Julie. Love the bright colours and the mediums that you used to create this spectacular piece. I am sorry to see that your house has some damage from the storms this winter. I feel so lucky where I live as we don't usually have such devastating storms.
