Some of the ideas for this class came about one night in the wee hours.

Does anyone else have trouble sleeping sometimes?



I was wide awake with "What If" being very pushy indeed.

Well we had to creep down to the studio, serruptiously avoiding the third step and start playing.

 And after a while I had my variation on Double Embossing.

The various textures are held by a little stitching.

 Sometimes I set myself  small challenges -lol often times there are big ones too but they aren't for the telling today!
 This one was to use something from my wastepaper basket ( wool label), a fibre (scrap of felt) and something new ( buttons)
Of course there is also some stitching and stamping too!

And then you are off.....googling... tracking....wondering...desiring!

That's how it was for me late last year. In a magazine, I spied
a funky cute image of a grinning cat. It piqued my imagination big time!



 I discovered that the image is from a set of stamps - the Alice series from the Octopode Factory.

Thinking about family and friends recently had me considering the history of my mum. 
Her early life was tumultuous. Luckily for her, she had two grandparents and a wonderful aunt who stepped in and rescued her. This support was vital to help her later became the loving, generous spirited person she was.

So it was with the flower I used on these cards. It was definitely too blossomy and lush but with some careful peeling the layers came apart easily, giving me two for the price of one!

As they are going to be used by the kids to record their precious memories from their week long camps I do not think the album pages need to be complicated. Indeed very beautiful pages can be quite intimidating.

Well, I didn't know what I was going to do with them but some came home anyway.

Now I can't say I would ever be a contestant in the Quiller of the Year Contest but using a punch to create quilled flowers most certainly appeals to me.

I have been exploring the possibilities of creating ornaments using dies.This set came from the Tim Holtz Sizzix Carved Ornament set.

The decoration is a Cuttlebug Clockworks Embossing Folder.I have coloured it up using the Distress Inks " Festive Berries"

A little more experimenting resulted in the Sizzix Die " Heart with Wings" producing a really interesting ornament.

Now when I am intrigued I just have to have a go.
I primed my canvas, used the gel medium, painted as instructed and.....
I ended up with the biggest mess you have ever seen. It was a total, messy failure.
Luckily "What if" came creeping in and I worked out a process that was so much easier.

I can admire but I seldom feel comfortable working in the cute style.

But these little ornaments are seriously cute.
All the images come from a Meg's Garden collage sheet.I painted an old die cut either gold or silver.
I applied a tacky glue on the winged hearts and then foiled it when it was dry. Such Fun!

 Now the cardstock was cut and the card faces were too.

The die cut hearts are left over from Judi's card design so I had them too!
The design is very simple and could certainly have been dressed up more. There is however, a need for economic and time restraint for this project.

There of always lots of bits left when I have made a range and these scraps are so pretty I hate to just bin them.
Super Star is a very patient man and he will often use the leftovers and some punches to make me a stash of cutouts while he watches TV.

So it was, that my friend Judi, showed me a lovely acetate butterfly she had made recently. Wow! It is pretty!

Take a plastic sleeve. Paint it using any acrylic paint you have on hand.I like to use an old credit card to spread it around but brushes will give you interesting effects too! Let dry.

Moment</title><summary type='text'>I have been putting Distress Stains through their paces recently. With this piece I was keen to see how they worked on semi gloss card. Interestingly they bead and smear a little. So then I wondered, what if I stamp onto the still damp card, again with distress stain. Well it beads on the rubber, exceptionally well.
Now that would be a problem for standard stamping.

This is my sister Vicki  and when this was taken Beachgirl Contests were all the rage each summer where we lived. What natural beauties they were too!

I had in mind a layout for my August class and went hunting for the photos I wanted to use.
The photos that I did use, jumped out at me. Lots of memories also tumbled out too.
That's what scrapbooking does! As we work through our page we also work through the memories and hopefully capture some of these to share with others.
